A Fast Birth

by C. Osborne

Midwives always tell you that every birth, every labour is different even for the same mother and I’ve certainly found the truth of that. Also the longest labour is not necessarily the hardest.

When I went into labour with my third, it was gentle enough for the first hour or two – then I found myself having contractions every minute, each lasting a full minute! There was no rest at all for half an hour, by which time I was fully dilated. Five more pushes and she was out. Needless to say I was exhausted. I lay where I was on the floor, shaking with exhaustion for quite a while before I had the strength to move to somewhere more comfortable.

Interestingly this baby, now 17, has always known what she wants and just gets on with it, no dilly-dallying.

I loved this story (perhaps because my labour went on for aaaaaages?!) ;)
My friend had her second baby in less than 2 hours... sounds ideal!

Precipitate labor
by: MAIA

Thank you! This is a great birth story and not so uncommon either. Midwives call this a precipitate labor....extra fast in other words.

best wishes,
